For over 40 years, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program provided participating families their benefits in the form of checks. As you can imagine, the outdated form of payment proved a major pain point for families when grocery shopping.
In 2019, San Diego County transitioned to providing WIC benefits on an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card. In partnership with other WIC agencies throughout southern California, we launched an awareness campaign for the new, familiar and convenient form of payment for WIC.
